Another document is now causing a stir in connection with the allegations of abuse at SOS Children’s Villages: in addition to the already known 262-page report by an investigative commission, a much more comprehensive long version has emerged – a full 991 pages, which, according to insiders, contain all names and details.
The allegations are explosive, ranging from child abuse to possible evidence of money laundering and human trafficking. However, the document will not be made public for the time being, reports the “Krone” newspaper.
The series of revelations has been ongoing for months. An independent commission of the umbrella organization SOS Children’s Villages International had produced two reports in 2023: an abridged publication and a more comprehensive internal version.
The new document is a “confidential, second part of the report” by the Independent Special Commission (ISC), as SOS Children’s Villages International explains. The long version contains numerous names, including those of whistleblowers.
For reasons of personal protection, it is therefore impossible to make this version public. Only the “International Senate” and the organization’s board of directors have access to it. However, the most important findings have been anonymized in the shorter report.
In 2023, SOS Children’s Villages Austria was given only temporary access to the part relating to the well-known case of a major donor in Nepal. According to a spokeswoman, a detailed legal review did not reveal any reliable evidence of human trafficking or money laundering. At the same time, SOS Children’s Villages International is examining whether parts of the long version can be forwarded to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office.
