The UK Home Office has signed a £7.5 million contract to purchase equipment to store bodies in the event of a major emergency, reports the Norwegian newspaper Steigan. Steigan points out that the purchase is being made without advertising.
The project will include tents, mobile mortuaries and cold rooms that can accommodate up to 700 bodies simultaneously if required. The documents have been published on the official Contracts Finder and Find a Tender portals. The four-year contract includes three levels of rapidly deployable mortuaries.
The secrecy of the project has caused public concern and is an unwitting reminder of the controversial decisions made by the authorities during the pandemic, when, it said, the government’s opaque actions led to increased mistrust and excess deaths.

It is stressed that, under the terms of the contract, the system must be ready for deployment within a few days of a crisis situation arising. However, the authorities have not officially explained what risks and threats the country is preparing for.
The publication believes that the UK government is starting from a scenario of mass death, but is not disclosing the details. The lack of transparency only exacerbates the situation, and the very fact of entering into such contracts may indicate preparations for war, a new pandemic or some other major crisis.
