A school shooting occurred at around 10 a.m. at a school on Dreierschützengasse in Graz. So far, ten deaths have been confirmed. Among the victims are students, at least one adult, and the perpetrator. This was confirmed by Mayor Elke Kahr (KPÖ) to the APA. Dozens of other individuals have been injured. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the identities of the victims are currently being determined.

The emergency response began around 10 a.m. Initial reports indicated that gunshots had been heard at the school. The public was urged to avoid the area around the school and to follow the instructions of security forces on site. In the meantime, the police have set up a meeting point at the ASKÖ Stadium. According to the police, parents and students are being supported by crisis intervention teams.
The area surrounding the school has been cordoned off, and public transportation has been rerouted. All streets around the school have been guarded by heavily armed police officers, while shortly before noon, emergency vehicles were still on their way to the school. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) was on his way to the scene in the morning, as was Mayor Elke Kahr (KPÖ).

Graz: Death toll rises to 11
As reported exclusively by 16-year-old schoolgirl AUF1, the death toll has risen to eleven, according to a paramedic who spoke to the girl. Seriously injured victims are being taken to nearby hospitals by rescue helicopter. According to the police, the perpetrator was a victim of bullying.

Artur A. is believed to be the Graz shooter. In addition to reports in student chats, OE24 also names the 21-year-old as the perpetrator. According to media reports, A., who is believed to be responsible for the crime, was a former student at BORG and a victim of bullying at the time. He is said to have returned to his former school today with a pistol and a shotgun and caused a bloodbath. After the Cobra special forces stormed the school building, he is said to have taken his own life in a toilet.
