Breaking the Silence on the Autism Epidemic- 2

White House Press Conference recognizes Autism Crisis

On September 22, 2025, a historic White House press conference led by President Donald Trump officially certified the autism crisis as a national epidemic. Flanked by key health officials, including Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Jay Bhattacharya, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Marty Makary, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administration confronted the autism epidemic and its meteoric rise that stands among the most alarming public health developments in history.

The press conference laid bare stark epidemiological realities showing a dramatic surge in autism prevalence. Decades ago, autism afflicted a mere 1 in 10,000 children. Today, the U.S. prevalence is 1 in 31 overall. This surge is particularly pronounced among boys – in California, rates for boys are now at 1 in 12. Since the year 2000 alone there has been a 400% increase. The Trump administration acknowledged that the uncomparable rise suggests the crisis is artificially induced. “There’s never been anything like this”, Trump stated. “You don’t go from one in 20,000 to one in 12 – you know there’s something artificial. They’re taking something”.

The Role of Toxins

Trump declared there is connection between Tylenol (acetaminophen) to pregnant women and autism in their children and the conference presented actions, to be effective immediately. Kennedy Jr followed up by talking about the strong evidence associated with acetaminophen with liver toxicity, that its use may prolong viral illnesses in children and given to pregnant women it increases the risk of autism and ADHD in children. But even though clinical and laboratory studies indicate associations with neurodevelopmental outcomes, a safety validation has been lacking due to politicized science. Kennedy emphasized that as a precautionary step to empower informed parental choices, the FDA will immediately issue a physician’s notice highlighting the risks of acetaminophen during pregnancy, and recommend them to limit its routine use unless medically necessary. The FDA will also be initiating safety label changes, and halting routine newborn doses post-shots.

Kennedy also acknowledged that studies have shown that folate deficiency may lead to autism and as peer-reviewed research has shown up to 60% of autistic individuals with folate deficiency can improve symptoms, particularily verbal communication with leucovorin (a form of folate) treatment, NIH will boost access to this. A fix that has long been ignored.

The role of vaccines

Trump criticized the large amount of vaccines given to children and pushed for single shots over combo shots and spreading them out over a longer period instead of giving them all at once, noting there is “no downside in taking them separately”. “They pump so much stuff into those beautiful little babies. It is a disgrace”, Trump said and continued: “We want no mercury in the vaccine. We want no aluminum in the vaccine.” He also mentioned that Hepatitis B is sexually transmitted and that he did not see any reason to give a newborn a hepatitis b vaccine. Trump pointed out that Amish communities, who forgo vaccines and pharmaceuticals, report virtually none affected by autism.

There is a dramatic amount of censored mothers with autistic children who believe vaccines injured their offspring, many saying they believe the accumulated load of toxic metals in the vaccines, toxic metals that are not safe at any amount and that children neither can metabolize nor detox. At the press conference Kennedy adressed this and condemned those who over the years have ignored testimonies of mothers while preaching “believe all women”: “Some 40 to 70 percent of mothers who have children with autism believe that their child was injured by a vaccine. President Trump believes that we should be listening to these mothers instead of gaslighting and marginalizing them like prior administrations. Some of our friends like to say that we should believe all women. But some people have been silencing and demonizing these mothers for three decades because research on the potential link between autism and vaccines has been actively suppressed in the past.”

Politicized Science

Kennedy criticized federal agencies like the CDC and FDA for fixating on genetics and burying environmental and vaccine probes. “Historically, NIH has focused almost solely on politically safe and entirely fruitless research about the genetic drivers of autism, and that would be like studying the genetic drivers of lung cancer without looking at cigarettes, and that’s what NIH has been doing for 20 years.” he said. “We are now replacing the institutional culture of politicized science and corruption with evidence-based medicine. NIH research teams are currently testing multiple hypotheses with no area off limits.” He vowed to uncompromisingly and relentless investigate the potential link between autism and vaccines. “We will perform the studies that should have been performed 25 years ago. Whatever the answer is, we will tell you what we find.” Kennedy ended by stating that unbiased, de-politicized gold-standard scientific research and academic freedom and cooperation between the agencies is what will be required from now on to deliver real answers to the chronic disease epidemic that plauge Americans.

The Borderless Catastrophe

Globally, the rising trend in autism is as unrelenting. Systematic reviews indicate the worldwide prevalence is now 1 in 100 children, up from 0.25% in the 1990s to nearly 1% today. In 2021 alone, autism was cited as claiming 61.8 million lives and 11.5 million disability-adjusted life years. The crisis is most acute in high-income countries with high childhood vaccination coverage, where the autism epidemic is clearest. Nations with 90–97% vaccination rates, such as the U.S. (94%), Japan (97%), Denmark (96%), and the U.K. (93%), bear the brunt of the increase. This is a true pandemic.
