The “Board of Peace” initiated by the Trump administration was founded in Davos this week and a masterplan for the reconstruction of Gaza was presented at the same time. What is being staged as a peace and future project is revealing itself to be a perfidious profit investment on the ruins of a destroyed country where thousands of people are still lying dead under the rubble. Central issues such as land and property rights, the return of displaced persons and the reappraisal of massive war crimes are completely ignored.
“I’m a real estate agent at heart, and I’m all about location,” Trump said of the development plan. “And I said, look at this oceanfront location, look at this beautiful piece of property, what it could mean to so many people.”
The newly founded Board of Peace is elitist and undemocratic, and the Palestinians, of all people, who are actually at stake, are being left out. Billions are being spent to buy influence, while actors such as Netanyahu are involved despite international arrest warrants. There is no talk of Palestinian statehood, nor of co-determination for the population.
The masterplan reduces genocide, expulsion and total destruction to an “investment opportunity”. Gaza is not seen as the home of a people, but as a project area for tourism, industry and profit.
🤮 It’s just disgusting to know that Israel constantly portrays itself as a victim while at the same time funding its own enemies to create an excuse to bomb and raze the country to the ground, only to rebuild it completely in its favour afterwards. Throughout history, Israel has financed and directed enemies in order to achieve goals on a higher level that would never be possible without the artificially created victim status.
